Controversial Producer To Leave Company And Study Abroad, Blames “Severe Depression”
Did the string of events over the years, like getting ousted after former THE BOYZ member Ju Haknyeon found himself amid a wild allegation involving a pornstar, or facing intense backlash for allegedly trying to poach EXO-CBX from SM Entertainment, take a toll on MC Mong‘s mental health? Korean news outlets reported that the troubled producer will step down from his producer role at ONE HUNDRED LABEL and BPM to go “study abroad.”
Producer Ousted From One Hundred Label Alongside Ju Haknyeon, Sparks Suspicions
On July 17, 2025 (KST), MC Mong shared on his social media account that he has been “suffering from severe depression,” noting that “making music has become difficult” because of his health complications.

Hello, fans! First of all, I thought it was most important to let you all know first. I’ve been struggling deeply with severe depression, had one surgery, and my health has deteriorated to the point that making music has become extremely difficult.

The producer then reassured his fans that the rumors about him are “baseless gossip.” While abroad, MC Mong says he will be focusing on improving his health and preparing for an album release.
“There’s no need to pay attention to the rumors floating around like baseless gossip. I’ve decided to choose a path that will allow me to keep making music for a longer time. I’ve entrusted all my producer duties at BPM and my dearest One Hundred Label to Chairman Cha Ga Won, and I’ve decided to go study abroad for the sake of my health and personal growth. Though I’m at an age where this may seem late, I sincerely want to improve and become healthier.
I’ll be preparing and releasing an album this year. I think of this as my last big wish—to fully focus on studying music and language. Being a producer and creator felt like a dream. It made me so happy. I still love and support the artists I worked with. But I was also worried that I might overshadow them, and I always felt a burden on my heart thinking I might be a weight on their fans. They will shine even brighter, and I, like all of you, hope they grow into amazing artists with endless support from their fans.
And to my own fans, my companions of 26 years… I promise to release an album this year no matter what, and to hold a concert before I leave to study abroad, even if I don’t know when I’ll be able to do one again. I’ve lived my life writing songs for others, finding fulfillment and happiness in that, but I’m sorry that I realized too late that to you, my music was everything. Our lives have been so alike. And every story, every song, they were all about you. Today’s sun can’t dry tomorrow’s wet clothes, but I’m happy knowing that tomorrow, you’ll still be listening to my music.”
