This Is The Military Bootcamp Where G-Dragon Will Undergo Harsh Training

He’s going to go through some tough training.

BIGBANG’s G-Dragon will be enlisting in the military later this month on February 27th as an active duty soldier. He plans to quietly enlist without an official public farewell to his fans.

He will have strenuous training for 5 weeks at Shin Byung Educational Corps located in Gangwondo province (located 107 km east of Seoul). Once his training is over he will relocate to a different base, most likely a rural area outside of Seoul, where he will continue to serve for the next 24 months.

During this 5 week bootcamp, G-Dragon will be participate in a strenuous basic skills trainings such as rifle shooting, grenade throwing, gas mask test, individual combat training, 20-mile march, etc.

The last week of his training will be the most difficult as typically it will consist of a series of challenging activities within a span of 3 – 4 days. Typically it consists of a 40k march (25 miles) while carrying a ~23 kg (50 lbs) backpack (consisting of things such as emergency shovel, food container, blanket, etc).

Soldiers will have no access to phones, the Internet, TV, newspapers, not be able to listen to music, and will not be allowed to lie down except only when sleeping or practicing prone position for rifle shooting throughout the training boot camp.

Mandatory military service has existed in South Korea ever since 1957 and it requires all male citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 to perform their two years of compulsory military service. Women may enlist the military voluntarily.

Actor Kim Soo Hyun enlisted in the military last October as an active duty soldier.

G Dragon will be joining a long list of celebrities who have enlisted in the military as an active duty soldier. Active duty soldiers serve 24 months in the Army or Marine Corps, 26 months in the Navy, and 28 months in the Air Force.

G-Dragon is the second member of BIGBANG to enlist in the military, following T.O.P. Taeyang will shortly follow after him, enlisting in the military next month on March 12th.

G-Dragon will be discharged on November 26, 2019. Please return back to us safely and in good health. We will be counting down the days!
