SONAMOO’s Nahyun And Sumin Wins Lawsuit Against TS Entertainment
In 2019, it was revealed that SONAMOO‘s Nahyun and Sumin had sued their agency, TS Entertainment, for the termination of their contracts on the grounds of unclear statements of finances. The group had apparently not been paid since debut.
Although this is a common practice for many rookie groups and entertainment labels, SONAMOO had debuted in 2014, making it hard to believe that the group still could not get paid after five years.
On the 15th of September 2020, it was revealed that the girls had won their case against TS Entertainment and that their contracts were now terminated. Sumin had also taken to her personal Instagram to thank fans for being by their sides.
Thank you to everyone that has been encouraging me all this time.
— Sumin
Nahyun on the other hand, has steadily been making a name for herself in web dramas, ever since leaving TS Entertainment. She has starred in I Started Following Romance and Dating Class, as well as more recently in Cafe Kilimanjaro with Kwon Hyunbin. She has also posted an Instagram Story about articles that have reported about the win in lawsuit.
While Nahyun will continue to be acting as a free agent in acting and attending college at Konkuk University for theatre, it is unclear if Sumin will be continuing activities in the entertainment industry or take a different path. The girls will no longer be a part of SONAMOO or TS Entertainment as of yesterday.
