NCT’s Jaemin Updates Fans On His Injury Amidst Concerns Over His Health

He was on hiatus for almost a year due to his injury.

NCT‘s Jaemin suffered from a herniated disk injury in 2016, and unfortunately is still dealing with it today. He had been absent from a handful of promotions at the end of the year in 2016. SM Entertainment officially announced the artist would withdraw from promotions in February 2017.

The idol has spoken about his worries and hardships during the hiatus, as it happened less than a year following his debut in NCT DREAM.

Jaemin made his return with “GO” from NCT 2018’s Empathy album. (From left to right: Mark, Chenle, Haechan, Jeno, Renjun, Jisung, and Jaemin).

On the group’s appearance on the television show Mental Camp, Jaemin said the moment he gained the most strength was meeting Czennies for the first time. Conversely, the hardest part was being away from Czennies during his hiatus.

The hardest part was not being able to see Czennies, who give me strength.”

Jaemin was able to begin promotions again in 2018, but as he revealed during a recent video call event, his back had never fully healed.

Oh, my back. My back is… Well, how should I put this? My back isn’t going to ‘get better’ necessarily, especially because of the work I do and how it involves a lot of movement. So it’s more about taking extra good care of it going forward.

Fans were concerned after the dance practice video for “Hello Future” was uploaded. Jaemin was seen struggling to get up from their starting position, laying down on the ground.

This information has fans revisiting the choreography from NCT 2018‘s song, “Black on Black,” where Jaemin has another member stand on his back. Many fans saw this as careless and dangerous, since the idol had only just returned from hiatus.

Jaemin is unfortunately not the only member of NCT to have sustained serious injuries. Haechan was on hiatus in the winter of 2018-2019 after fracturing his leg. Jisung suffered from a knee injury which resulted in his absence from NCT 2020 promotions. Taeyong also sustained a herniated disk injury and was absent from their online concert, Beyond LIVE – NCT : RESONANCE “Global Wave.”

Nanadoongies (Jaemin’s nickname for his fans which roughly translates to “Nana’s lovelies“) hope that Jaemin is able to take care of his health, and admire the artist for his positive attitude.
