K-Pop Idol Rents A $9K/Month Apartment To “Get Married,” But She’s Ready To Move Out
SISTAR member Soyou gave her fans a rare look inside her ultra-luxury lifestyle and why she’s now ready to leave it behind.

In the most recent episode of BTOB Lee Changsub‘s YouTube show, he visited Soyou’s upscale Hannam-dong residence, a neighborhood known as one of Seoul’s most exclusive enclaves. With sweeping views near the Grand Hyatt Seoul and neighboring high-end properties worth millions, the setting alone underscored the area’s elite status.

But it was the price tag that truly shocked viewers.
According to the video, a unit in the complex usually runs for ₩13.0 million KRW (about $8,800 USD) with a massive upfront deposit of ₩100 million KRW (about $67,700 USD). To that, Soyou clarified that her rent isn’t necessarily the current average because she moved in six years ago when the prices weren’t as high—but that her lease is under a unique structure that requires her to pay an entire year’s rent in advance.

I’ve lived here for six years… I originally thought I’d live here until I got married.

That plan, however, has since changed. Admitting she no longer has marriage on her mind, Soyou revealed she’s now preparing to move out, saying there’s “no real reason” to stay in such a costly space anymore. She even joked that the move feels like a financial escape.
