Song Hye Kyo Hits Back At Comments Saying She Looks Old In “The Glory”

She directly addressed the “criticism.”

Song Hye Kyo‘s latest drama, The Glory, took over the globe as soon as it was released in late December 2022. The show’s first season topped the Netflix chart in multiple countries and was so impactful that it opened up several conversations about bullying around the world.

While most fans praised Song Hye Kyo and the rest of the cast for their commendable performance in the show, some netizens complained that Song looked very aged in the series. In fact, the comments about her looking “old” started even before the show premiered. During a press conference before the release of The Glory, internet forums were bustling with discussions about Song’s appearance.

Song Hye Kyo Subjected To Ageist Comments For Her Appearance At “The Glory” Press Conference

While most fans would have wished that these comments never reached the actress at all, recently, Song Hye Kyo decided to give a piece of her mind back to the people who were so focused on her “aged” look. And boy, did she do it with grace!

The actress recently posted a series of pictures she shot for Elle Korea on her Instagram. The photoshoot made her visual shine through as she pulled off the colorful and trendy styling effortlessly.

Along with the pictorials, Elle Korea also did an interview with Song where she was asked how she felt about the comments criticizing her appearance in The Glory. She responded by saying that her character, Dong Eun, has had such a hard life that it wouldn’t make sense for her to look very well-maintained.

In the story, Dongeun is a character who’s only suffered all her life. It would make no sense to present her as someone who’s been taking care of herself all this time.

She went a step further and boldly addressed the personal comments made at her during her recent public appearances.

I know people are saying that ‘Song Hye Kyo suddenly looks older,’ and of course, I do, because I’ve gotten older.

Netizens couldn’t seem to get enough of this bold and colorful charm of Song, and many were bewildered that people would criticize her over something as natural as aging in the first place.
