Third Generation Female Idol Names BTS’s J-Hope As Her Inspiration

What an exceptionally talented combo!

Dreamcatcher‘s SuA holds down multiple important roles in the group as a vocalist, the lead rapper, and the main dancer.

Though she excels at them all, her dancing skill, without any question, is the most irreplaceable talent of hers. Apart from being the strongest dancer in the group, SuA has also contributed as a choreographer in multiple of Dreamcatcher’s projects.

In a recent interview, the idol revealed that she had a knack for dancing since childhood, which led her to leave her hometown Masan and move to Seoul all alone. SuA spent five years in training, which helped her develop choreographing skills. After debuting with Dreamcatcher, she participated in multiple projects as a choreographer.

In 2018 SuA and her co-member Dami posted a dance and song cover of Camilla Cabello‘s “Havana,” which received high praise from fans. SuA was the creator of the dance routine the two performed in the video.

The next year, she created another banger choreography to DJ Snake‘s “Taki Taki,” which she performed with her other members JiU and Yoohyeon.

Probably one of her most talked about covers, however, is Billie Eilish‘s “COPYCAT.” In the video, SuA sang and danced to the song, showing off her capabilities as a well-rounded artist. The choreography was self-made and showed a different side of the idol as she pulled off a darker concept all on her own.

In a recent interview where she talked about her growth as a choreographer, she mentioned that BTS member J-Hope was one of her inspirations. She shared that she was inspired after watching one of J-Hope’s solo choreographies, and that’s what pushed her to create the dance to “COPYCAT.”

I liked it so much. So, from then onwards, I gained strength, thinking, ‘It will come out well if I just do it my way.’

SuA shared that she still watches the video from time to time, and it is her “favorite” result of her hard work as a choreographer.

Though she didn’t mention which J-Hope choreography inspired her for “COPYCAT,” fans are guessing it is “Boy Meets Evil,” given the similarity in style and vibe. The choreography for “Boy Meets Evil” was created by Dylan Mayoral and executed by J-Hope with the perfection of a master.

SuA went on to choreograph more dances after “COPYCAT,” the most notable one being “Red Sun,” the title track of Dreamcatcher’s 2020 album Dystopia: The Tree Of Language.
