LE SSERAFIM Thought They Were Too “Lame” For TV Appearances, Sakura Spills On What Changed Their Minds

LE SSERAFIM has been charming fans with their charisma and fun personalities, but in Sakura‘s recent Weverse Magazine interview, she surprisingly shared that the members weren’t confident about showing their personalities to fans, especially on TV.

LE SSERAFIM recently made their first comeback with the mini-album ANTIFRAGILE, stunning fans and netizens with their hard-hitting choreography, powerful vocals, and fresh concept.

As with many comebacks, groups often visit variety programs to promote their new release and for fans to get to know the artist better.

LE SSERAFIM has been stealing hearts with appearances on various programs and with their own releases on their official YouTube channel.

Despite being a rookie group, LE SSERAFIM has already gained interest from their appearances on variety shows, including The Game Caterers 2, where they appeared alongside their HYBE Label family.

On The Game Caterers 2, the group was praised for their thoughtful actions towards their HYBE labelmates and charmed their fellow artists with their charisma and talent.

Sakura’s individual variety show appearances have also earned attention and captured hearts as she consistently displays her kind personality and mature mindset.

In May, Sakura was a guest on the popular program Knowing Bros. where she appeared alongside her fellow group member Chaewon and Billlie‘s Tsuki and Moon Sua.

On the show, she touched the audience and hosts with the story of the first time she met her estranged father since her parents separated when she was only a year old.

Sakura revisited the story briefly in her Weverse Magazine interview, sharing that she hadn’t given the story much thought at the time, but in retrospect, she wondered if she should have brought it up.

It wasn’t a big secret or anything. I didn’t think when the right time to reveal it would be or anything like that. I just never said anything because it never came up. It wasn’t a big deal, so I just said that “something interesting happened to me.” But so many people thought it was such an awful story so I wondered if I just shouldn’t have said anything.

Despite her doubt, the story was received well by fans and the TV hosts, who praised Sakura’s strength and vulnerability.

Even Sakura is amazed by how open she can be with LE SSERAFIM and her fans. Though she can be more open with her group, she shared that the members initially doubted that they would be able to do well on variety shows.

It’s amazing how open all the members are and how close we’ve become. Before we debuted, we said, ‘There’s no way we can do variety shows.’ Because we thought we’re so lame.

Sakura claimed the members felt they were “too lame” to appear on variety programs, FEARNOTs (LE SSERAFIM fans) felt that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Luckily, the members have changed their minds, and feel more confident after appearing on programs.

…after we did a few of them, we found out we’re pretty fun on video, and FEARNOT thought so, too. I think it’s probably because we’re out there enjoying every single moment of it. We all have the mindset that, if we’re going to do it, we should do it right and have fun with it. Even when we’re having a hard time, we say, ‘We have to get through this to be LE SSERAFIM!’ Or, ‘We really are FEARLESS. We really are ANTIFRAGILE.’
