SEVENTEEN’s S.Coups Gets Stern With Fans—His Message Now Causing Speculations About His Brother
SEVENTEEN‘s S.Coups is putting his foot down and asking his fans not to associate with a certain café.

In a stern message shared via SEVENTEEN’s Weverse app, S.Coups reiterated that he does not want his fans to give business to his older brother’s café. Previously, he mentioned having seen the videos related to the café and asked that Carats do not support it.

I’ve been seeing a lot of café videos. I’m not associated with that business and I would appreciate it if you do not support them.
Please let as many Carats know as possible…! I know that a lot of Carats have followed and are visiting the café, so…

To ensure his message got across, this time S. Coups even included a rather personal explanation about his brother…

There’s a lot of good things happening and the unit promotion is coming up, so I’ve been holding this in since I don’t want to say bad things. But there have been problems with my hyung. If Carats are visiting the café because they like it, then I don’t get to say much about that. But if you’re going for me or supporting the business because of me, I do not like that at all. Please, if you know any other Carats, too, let them know as well!

…though this part has since been debated, as the Korean original can be interpreted in more than one meaning.

- “Doesn’t matter if the brothers are on good terms or not. He’s saying if his fans are giving business to the café because of him, then don’t. No need to overthink it.”
- “Basically the point is ‘don’t give it business,’ but people focusing on whether he has issues with his brother is kind of weird.”
- “He literally said ‘there have been problems with my hyung.’ Doesn’t that mean there really is an issue between them and their relationship is bad, so he’s telling fans not to go? But fans shouldn’t be nitpicking in the comments; since S.Coups wrote it that way, just take it as it is and don’t visit his brother’s café.”
- “Who cares if the two of them get along or not..? No one’s blaming S.Coups. Just accept it and move on.”
- “Just wondering. If fans are told not to go, do they really not go?”
- “Just don’t go, simple as that.”

- “I feel like true fans would simply choose to respect him and not go. I don’t get why they’re blowing this up instead.”
- “Guess he doesn’t like the idea of his family running a business off him.”
- “I don’t know about their relationship, but maybe the brother wants to run a small, private café. If the fans keep flooding it, it’s going to look like his family is profiting off the fans. Could it be that he’s just trying to prevent that?”
- “If your idol tells ya ‘don’t go,’ then don’t go. He must have a reason.”
- “Honestly, the way he wrote it was clear and straightforward. ‘Don’t go if it’s for me/because of me.’ Why are people making it complicated?”
- “It’s true that the brother part can be read two ways: He actually has issues with his brother vs. Supporting a family business as fans could create problems for his brother. Either way, since he said don’t go, best not to.”
While the interpretation remains split, most fans agree; as this is not the first time S.Coups asked the fans to refrain from going to the café, his request should be respected.

- “I actually saw a post from someone who was there at opening time. And the line out of the café. It really seemed like something could happen one day, and it’ll end up in the news under his name.”
- “Don’t ask why. If he says don’t go, then just don’t.”
- “As fans, if he says don’t go, then don’t. Why are people trying to read into his message?”
- “He’s not stopping people from going for what the café itself has to offer. But if it’s just because of him, then he’s asking them not to do so. How is that a problem?”
- “Honestly, people aren’t going for the café itself but because it’s his family’s. If the idol says don’t go, why bother?”
Carats are now spreading the word, as S.Coups wished, asking one another to not only stay away from the café, but also stop speculating about things based on his message.
