BTS Diss Rapper Receives Prison Sentence

He was indicted for assault and bodily injury.

Rapper and producer B-FREE, perhaps better known to K-Pop fans for his longtime beef with BTS members Suga and RM (as well as his 2022 album in which he called the group “grown men acting like boys”), has been sentenced to prison for assault and bodily injury.

The rapper, whose real name is Choi Sung Ho, was indicted for attacking Resident A in front of an apartment building in Seoul back in June 2024. At the time, it was reported that B-FREE was arguing with the security guard—shouting, swearing, and honking his motorcycle—at the property’s main entrance when Resident A complained about the noise.

B-FREE responded with more profanity, and when confronted in person, the rapper is said to have assaulted Resident A. From this encounter, Resident A suffered facial lacerations, a tripod fracture, and traumatic optic neuropathy in the right eye that led to a visual field impairment, which required eight weeks of medical treatment.

For the vicious attack, the Seoul High Court’s Criminal Division 3 upheld the lower court’s ruling as of January 2, 2026 (KST), sentencing B-FREE to one year and four months in prison.

The defendant’s conduct is highly blameworthy, and because the victim suffered a potentially permanent visual field defect in the lower right eye, severe punishment is unavoidable.
