Number 3 is just ridiculous.

While there are plenty of positives of being a K-Pop idol, such as receiving love from fans, there are also plenty of negatives as well. Here’s a list of some of the worst things that K-Pop idols have to deal with.

1. Sasaeng fans

Sasaeng fans truly cross the line when it comes to showing love for their favorite idols, as they have no problem with invading their privacy or committing vile acts to get their attention. JYJ‘s Jaejoong is an idol who has had plenty of horrifying experiences with sasaeng fans. One time, he was taking a nap at a sauna, and a sasaeng fan decided to take a picture of him. Not only that, but the sasaeng fan also posted the picture online and bragged that she kissed him.

Heechul ended up taking various routes to try to get away from them, but it ended with him getting into an accident.

2. Extreme dieting

The K-Pop industry is quite obsessed with weight, where idols are expected to be dangerously thin. This has caused idols to go on some extreme diets that could seriously damage their health. TWICE‘s Momo revealed in the past that she went on an extreme diet when she was a trainee, where she would eat only one ice cube a day. She ended up doing this diet for a week and admitted that she was scared to go to sleep, as she thought that she wouldn’t wake up.

3. Malicious netizens

K-Pop idols have to deal with malicious netizens all the time, as idols seemingly get criticized for everything. There have been many idols who got criticized by netizens for absurd reasons. BLACKPINK‘s Lisa once got targeted by malicious netizens due to her Thai background. Many netizens left malicious comments about Lisa, saying that she was just an average Thai woman that looked good due to Korean makeup.

When Kang Daniel and TWICE‘s Jihyo announced they were in a relationship, some malicious netizens criticized them, particularly Kang Daniel. They criticized him for dating only a couple of years after his debut and for “crushing the fantasy” that idols sell to fans.

At the beginning of 2019, my agency told me to go back home. When I asked them when I should come back, they told me there was no need to come back.
