It has been half a year since Seolhyun has updated her Instagram account, but fret no more as the AOA member has made not one, not two, but three posts to celebrate her social media comeback. The girl group member celebrated the conclusion of her drama, Awaken, as the last episode aired just a couple days ago. In an effort to thank her fans and the viewers of the drama, Seolhyun uploaded this post. Here is what her caption says.

Hello I’m Kim Seolhyun and I played Kong Hye Won in the drama ‘Awaken’. We started filming the drama last spring and yesterday the last episode aired…’Awaken’ is a production that is near and dear to my heart. If I didn’t have this drama, I wonder how I would’ve spent this time. I’m grateful that I got to portray such a tough and brave Kong Hye Won. This drama and Kong Hye Won were a huge strength and driving force to me.

Every morning, I went to the production site with the desire to work hard alongside all the hardworking staff. The reason why I was able to complete the filming well is thanks to the patient and loving sunbaes, co-actors, producers, directors and staff. It’s also thanks to the Hye Won team who was always by my side. I felt a lot and learned a lot, but most of all, I realized it was such a warm environment. I want to take this moment to say thank you once again. It was around this time last year that I formally first met this production. It’s been a full year that we have spent this time together.

I want to take this time to say ‘good work’ to the struggling Hye Won. When everyone was saying that Do Jung Woo was the culprit, Hye Won was the only one who didn’t sway and trust in Do Jung Woo. It was a long time before the truth came out. In a way, people might not be able to understand Hye Won’s actions…however, I want to brag about Hye Won’s loyalty. I want to cheer on Hye Won until the very end. I want to thank those who have loved Kong Hye Won and ‘Awaken’ from the bottom of my heart. I know it’s late but I also want to say Happy New Year. I hope that you all stay healthy!

For the past year, Seolhyun played police officer Kong Hye Won in the thriller tvN drama, Awaken alongside actors Nam Goong Min and Lee Chung Ah. She showcased her new and improved abilities as an actress through this production.

These Instagram posts mark the first social media updates that Seolhyun has made since the shocking Jimin and Mina bullying controversy. Seolhyun received endless malicious comments when the scandal first broke, with numerous claims being made against the girl group member. She remained silent on the controversy, taking a brief hiatus from her social media accounts while she focused on filming her drama.

Netizens asked for the removal of Seolhyun from Awaken due to her indirect involvement in the AOA bullying scandal. Seolhyun is famously known to be best friends with Jimin, making her silence even more deafening. Her silence brought intense backlash, but the production team continued on with the filming stating that they had already filmed too much to remove Seolhyun from the drama.

In the midst of her return, netizens did not like that the AOA member updated her Instagram while she continues to remain silent on the bullying controversy. While her social media comeback has been met with backlash, there was one famous girl group member who was excited to see her friend posting again. Girls’ Generation‘s Taeyeon left a loving comment under one of Seolhyun’s posts, encouraging her friend during these tough times.
