ASTRO’s Cha Eunwoo Recalls Crying Every Day As A Trainee For “Not Being Talented”

His confidence hit rock bottom.

On a recent episode of SBS‘s All The Butlers, ASTRO‘s Cha Eunwoo recalled his trainee days and confessed just how hard it was.

After drawing a life graph for the others to see, he shared that his trainee days were hard.

I began my trainee days at 17, and those days were hard.

He explained that before his trainee days, he was praised all the time for his talents, but once he became a trainee, his confidence came crashing down.

Before that, I was praised a lot, I liked sports, and I liked to study, but once I became a trainee, I was so bad compared to my peers that I was scolded for the first time and my confidence hit rock bottom.

He even shared that he cried every day after being scolded 30 times a day about not being good enough.

They told me I was like fish out of water over 30 times a day, so I would go back to my dorm and cry. I felt like I was worthless. During my 4 years as a trainee, I learned how to be patient.

But Cha Eunwoo expressed that eeverything happened for a reason as he believes that he would’ve been a worse person if he didn’t go through the hardship.

I finally debuted at 20, and I will never forget that. I worked hard and took 1st place for the first time at 23. If all of that didn’t happen, I might’ve turned out conceited. I don’t think I would’ve been a better person than I am now.
