Fans Call Out Former YG Entertainment CEO For Comparing BABYMONSTER’s Chiquita To BLACKPINK’s Lisa

To help fans get to know the seven members, YG Entertainment is releasing introductory videos detailing everything from each member’s struggles while training to what their mentors believe their strongest skills are.
The newest video introduces netizens to Chiquita, who, like Pharita, is from Thailand.
In the video, former YG Entertainment CEO and founder Yang Hyun Suk praises Chiquita’s natural skill, explaining that despite having the shortest training time among the members, she’s “born with [talent].”
BLACKPINK‘s Lisa also praises Chiquita’s skill when she meets with Chiquita and Pharita as a mentor, which the two BABYMONSTER members couldn’t have been more excited about, sharing their appreciation for the idol.

Toward the end of the video, Yang Hyun Suk expresses his desire for Chiquita to “be popular just like [Lisa].”

There’s no denying Lisa’s global impact as the star continually breaks records as a part of BLACKPINK and a soloist. Lisa is also a global fashion icon, representing luxury brands like Celine and BVLGARI.
Reportedly, the idol has even been offered ₩100 billion KRW (about $76.6 million USD) to sign a contract with a company outside of Korea once BLACKPINK’s contracts with YG Entertainment expire.
While fans agree with Yang Hyun Suk about Lisa’s incredible success, they are voicing their frustration at the comparison and even his mentioning of Lisa. Fans believe YG Entertainment has mistreated Lisa, causing the idol to have to find success despite YG Entertainment’s management.

Fans also don’t believe the comparison is fair to Chiquita, who, while talented, hasn’t debuted yet. They don’t want the members of BABYMONSTER to have pressure to become the next BLACKPINK, arguing that BABYMONSTER should instead be able to embrace their own unique charms and identity.
