BTS’s Jungkook Makes History With His Qatar World Cup Performance

The moving performance was narrated by a special guest.

On November 20, BTS‘s Jungkook officially made history as the first Korean artist to perform at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony after his stunning world-class performance narrated, by a surprise guest.

On November 12, it was confirmed after speculation that BTS’s Jungkook would be performing in the opening ceremony for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 after he visited the country at the end of October for an unannounced schedule.

Jungkook finally gave his World Cup performance with Qatari artist Fahad Al Kubaisi, singing the song “Dreamers,” produced by the famous Moroccan singer, songwriter, and producer RedOne. The Moroccan artist has worked with world stars such as Lady GagaShakiraEnrique IglesiasOne DirectionUsher, and many more influential artists.

The ceremony kicked off with a surprise appearance by legendary American actor Morgan Freeman, who narrated the opening performance. Morgan Freeman gave a touching speech of unity and acceptance, welcoming all to Qatar in celebration of the World Cup.

As the first performance came to an end, a medley of past World Cup anthems, including “Waka Waka” by Shakira and ” La Copa de la Vida” by Ricky Martin, played while previous World Cup mascots took the stage, and flags of the participating countries were flown.

Surrounded by supporting dancers, Jungkook captivated the crowd with his charisma and incredible vocal talents. The moving performance went off without a hitch as Jungkook gave a world-class stage effortlessly.

The BTS maknae was joined by Qatari artist Fahad Al Kubaisi towards the end of the performance, and the two ended the song with a powerful moment united at center stage.

While Jungkook may have been performing without his fellow BTS members, he certainly wasn’t alone in spirit as his hyungs all tuned into the live broadcast to support their beloved maknae.
