Epik High Wins The Internet With Hilarious Posters For 20th Anniversary Concert

And it wasn’t even a hasty photoshop!

October 18, 2023, will mark the 20-year debut anniversary of Korean Hip Hop trio Epik High, and to celebrate this milestone, the trio Tablo, Mithra Jin, and DJ Tukutz will perform two shows, on December 16 and December 17 at Seoul’s Olympic Park Handball Stadium.

While Epik High is held in high esteem in the field of Korean Hip Hop, they are also known for their goofy personalities, even after twenty long years of being in the business. In the true fashion of his group’s hallmark unseriousness, Tablo recently shared a teaser poster of their concert, parodying the 20th Century Fox logo.

But as promised in the post, the main poster came later, and blew everyone’s minds.

Tablo shared the picture on his Twitter profile, where he and his groupmates recreated the iconic Barbie movie poster! From their getup to the props and their expressions, everything emulated the real deal. Tablo also made it clear that this poster was not edited, and they indeed had a real photoshoot to recreate the Barbie vibes.

Except, instead of the movie’s name, the text on the poster said “The father of K-HipHop,” doing a hilarious wordplay between “Barbie” and the Korean word “abie” (father).

Both international and Korean fans were in splits with this poster, but it turns out, this isn’t the first time the trio has pulled something like this. A post on the popular Korean forum Theqoo has gone viral after revealing the similarly hilarious event posters of Epik High, where they recreated other popular movie and TV show posters, with full commitment to the cause.

For their 2019 concert poster, Tablo and DJ Tukutz posed as Song Joong Ki and Park Bo Young  on the poster of A Werewolf Boy respectively.

The 2018 poster had the three of them slip into the shoes of multiple characters to recreate the poster of Welcome to Dongmakgol.

In another 2018 concert ad, DJ Tukutz posed as the haunted school girl on the poster of Whispering Corridors.

In a 2016 poster, Mithra Jin and DJ Tukutz recreated the poster of The Priests down to the T. Tablo, on the other hand, channeled his inner Natalie Portman, serving face in a parody poster of Black Swan, namely, as “Blue Swan.”

2015 saw the trio parody the judges of the popular reality show K-Pop Star — YG Entertainment’s Yang Hyun Suk (Mithra Jin), Antenna Music‘s Yoo Hee Yeol (Tablo), and JYP Entertainment‘s J.Y. Park (DJ Tukutz) in his infamous plastic pants!
