Star-Studded Judge Line-up For New Survival Show “Peak Time” Draws Mixed Reactions From Netizens

So much star power!

On February 15, KST, the new JTBC survival show Peak Time, will debut its first two episodes.

The goal of Peak Time is to give opportunities to twenty-three groups that have been hit hard by the pandemic, had long breaks or frequent member changes, have disbanded or recently debuted, and would like a boost of attention by showcasing their skills.

Recently, netizens were surprised by the star-studded cast line-up for the show!

First up, Lee Seung Gi was revealed to be hosting the new reality program as the show’s MC. According to his profile page, Lee Seung Gi is described as “Korea’s favorite all-rounder entertainer.

Of the eight judges of the show, six are active as K-Pop idols or musicians: Super Junior’s Kyuhyun, Girls’ Generation‘s Tiffany Young, Jay Park, HIGHTLIGHT‘s Kikwang (also known as Gikwang), INFINITE‘s Sungkyu, and WINNER‘s Mino.

Also included in the judge’s line-up is Jaewon Shim, performance director at SM Entertainment, and Ryan Jhun, a producer who has worked with groups like NCT 127, IVE, EXO, and LOONA.

Netizens online reacted differently to the line-up, with many showing excitement that their faves would be a part of the show.

Of the mixed reactions, the main complaint seems to be that of the nine non-contestant spots, only one is filled by a woman.

What do you think of the lineup?
