TV Star Reveals Horrifying Run-In With Stalker Who Later Attacked Another Actress
TV personality Seo Dong Joo has revealed a horrifying encounter with a stalker who allegedly later broke into actress Kim Gyu Ri’s home and committed robbery, resulting in injury.

On June 6, 2026 (KST), Seo Dong Joo took to her personal social media account to clarify reports about the case after receiving numerous messages from concerned followers.
Because of the article titles, I’ve been receiving so many messages since yesterday. It does not mean that I am the robber who hurt Kim Gyu Ri. The article is saying that the stalker who broke into my home this January turned out to be the same person who entered Kim Gyu Ri’s home and committed the crime. Please don’t misunderstand.

Seo Dong Joo then explained that earlier this year, a man entered her home by pretending to be a city gas inspector. “At the beginning of the year, I was deceived by a man pretending to be a city gas inspector, and he entered my home when I was alone after my husband had gone to work,” she shared.
Until then, I naturally thought he was a city gas inspector. Strangely, I felt an uneasiness that was hard to explain. I had never faced a criminal at such close range, especially alone inside my own home, so I didn’t even know what that feeling was. I couldn’t tell if it was pressure, fear, or instinctive caution, but the feeling came over me like a wave.

Feeling alarmed, Seo Dong Joo called her husband and put the call on speakerphone so the man would know she was speaking to someone. She also kept her distance while watching his movements inside the house. “I kept as much distance as possible and watched what he was doing,” she wrote, “and he was walking around the house and taking detailed photos of the water pipes and the inside of the home.”

She added that her dogs ran toward him after seeing a stranger enter the house. Although they were only wagging their tails and asking to be petted, Seo Dong Joo said the man appeared flustered and eventually left. At first, she wondered whether she had misunderstood the situation.
Because he just left, for a moment I thought maybe I had misunderstood him for no reason, and I even gave him a drink.

But shortly afterward, Seo Dong Joo encountered a real city gas inspector outside. When she contacted Korea City Gas to confirm, she was told that no male inspector had been dispatched near her home. “That was when I became sure something was wrong and immediately reported it to the police,” she said.
According to Seo Dong Joo, she later learned that the man had described himself as her fan and claimed he wanted to meet her at the beginning of the year to “receive energy” from her. She also said he had allegedly tried to contact her and visit her the previous year. Seo Dong Joo explained that she had not spoken publicly about the incident until now because the detective in charge of the case advised her against revealing details due to concerns about copycat crimes.
This time, however, her name surfaced in reports because the man was later linked to actress Kim Gyu Ri’s case. According to MBN, the man in his 40s who allegedly broke into Kim Gyu Ri’s home last month and committed robbery resulting in injury was the same person who had been on trial for allegedly trespassing into Seo Dong Joo’s home earlier this year.

Police had previously requested an arrest warrant and a Level 4 temporary measure, which would have allowed the man to be detained in a holding cell, on charges of trespassing and stalking. However, the court rejected the request.
While being tried without detention, the man allegedly broke into the home in Bukchon Hanok Village in Jongno District, Seoul, where Kim Gyu Ri and an acquaintance live, at around 9 PM on May 20 and committed robbery. He was later arrested.
Seo Dong Joo ended her post by warning others to be careful of people pretending to be gas inspectors.
Everyone, please be careful of crimes involving people pretending to be city gas inspectors. If anything feels even a little strange or off, never open the door or let someone into your home when you are alone. It’s such a terrifying memory that it still feels vivid even now.
